October 6 Friday Update
Student Learning Conferences
We will be hosting conferences at the school for families to come and speak with teachers about their child’s learning on Thursday evening, October 19 and Friday morning, October 20. Please note that these are in-person meetings. Booking will open for appointments on October 13.
We want to make sure any families who could benefit from interpreter support have the opportunity. We have requested language interpreters to call all families where students have an additional language listed to offer this support and schedule times. If an interpreter reaches out to you and you do not need this service, no problem! Let them know and we will ensure that our records are updated to reflect this preference.
Weather Changing
As much as we wish the summer could last forever, it is starting to turn cold. Please remember that students at Marlborough School go outside to play every day at lunchtime unless there is unsafe weather (such as lightning or extreme cold). Make sure your child is dressed appropriately for the weather every day.
Lost and Found
We have quite a collection of lost and found items at the school. Please feel free to come in and take a look for any lost items your child may have left here. Labelling student clothing with their names is very helpful for reducing the amount of lost and found, as we can return it to them.
Attendance
Consistent daily attendance is a key to school success. We understand that mornings can be tough, but learning is a child’s main job. We are noticing a pattern where more students are absent on Fridays and Mondays. Please go to our school’s calendar page to keep up to date on which days school is in session. Our sign outside the front of the school is updated monthly and includes listing all days off.
If your child is unable to make it to school, please call the attendance line (403 777 8190, ext 1) to leave a message with the name, grade, and reason.
School Hours
Doors 1, 4 and 7 open for soft entry from 7:45am to 7:58 when the bell rings. After the bell, students need to come to the main office door for entry. Lunch break is 11-11:43am Monday to Thursday. Dismissal is at 2:30 on Monday-Thursday and 11:05 on Fridays.

A Webinar Series for Parents and Guardians
CBE educators believe that parents and guardians can inspire their kids to make healthy lifestyle choices and increase protective factors – in order to do so, they need the right tools and information.

Well-being is a precondition for learning. As our understanding of student well-being continues to evolve, it is important for those that support children and youth to stay up to date on the same information so everyone can support student success.
